Gas Hot Water Systems

How it works

There are two types of gas hot water systems:

Storage – Water is continually heated inside a tank with a gas burner

Continuous – A burner is ignited only when water is needed, so it doesn’t require a tank

Benefits of a gas hot water system

  • Gas can heat the water faster than electric systems, so it doesn’t require as much energy and you can benefit from reduced energy bills
  • Gas systems produce less emissions, so you can reduce your carbon footprint
  • Gas heats water fast, so you can be sure to have access to hot water when you need it

Drawbacks of a gas hot water system

  • You must have access to gas for this to be a viable option
  • Must be installed outside, otherwise venting is required if installed inside
  • The use of LPG gas can mean higher operating costs
